The Fifth Element.

Film: The Fifth Element.
Director: Luc Besson.

SO. AWESOME.

Oh wow, I don't think I've enjoyed a film quite so much for such a long time! It is fantastic!

Favourite character is either Ruby Rhod or Leeloo!

Ah, man. I don't even think I have a favourite scene, just all of it.

If you haven't seen it you are seriously missing out!

Overall, I'd give The Fifth Element: 10/10.

I will 100% see it again.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.

Film: Percy Jackson, Sea of Monsters.
Director: Thor Freudenthal.

When I saw this was coming out soon I immediately reread the books and I remembered just how much I loved them!

I did enjoy the film though in places I felt the acting was a little..lacking.

My favourite scene was with the hippocampi, it was stunning and a brilliant piece of computer work.

My second favourite scene was with Tyson and the bull and the line "bad bull".

The whole thing was fantastically well done and I will definitely see it again.

Overall, I'd give Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters: 9/10.

Worth a watch :)

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Film: The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Director: Jim Sharman.

This was one of those films where you just go "what?!". I genuinely have NO idea what the hell happened!

It seemed like the story started in the middle and ended in the middle. I'm confused but I quite enjoyed it!

My favourite part was without a doubt, Time Warp! I know the dance and I used the dance to powerhoop too which was fantastic!

Overall, I'd give The Rocky Horror Picture Show: 7/10.

Odd, but I liked it.

Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away

Film: Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away
Director: Andrew Adamson.

Holy. Wow.

This is 120% worth watching. There is absolutely nothing bad about this at all!

The movement and the stunts are all fantastically well done and everything about it screams perfection.

I would definitely watch it again!

My favourite scene was when Mia finally meets up with The Aerialist and the dance they do is astounding.

Overall, I would give Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away: 10/10 with no hesitation.

World War Z

Film: World War Z.
Director: Marc Forster.

This was an interesting film. It was like Resident Evil meets Brad Pitt.

I quite enjoyed it even though it scared the crap out of me a few times!

My favourite scene was when Pitt was in Israel and seemed safe until the zombies came over the wall.

I think the whole thing was awesome, it was very clever and it amused me. It is definitely worth a watch!

Overall, I'd give World War Z: 8/10.

I enjoyed it but I probably won't see it again!

The Next Three Days.

Film: The Next Three Days.
Director: Paul Haggis.

This has been on my list for such a long time and I totally forgot about it! Thank you, iTunes!

A really enjoyable film which goes to show exactly what the average joe can do when under pressure and at the end of their tether.

I loved the casting and I think that the way it was done was fantastic. The film itself had an easy to follow and yet super clever storyline.

My favourite scene was the final one when John takes the picture of Lara and Luke.

Overall, I'd give The Next Three Days: 8/10.

Very enjoyable :)

Shutter Island

Film: Shutter Island.
Director: Martin Scorsese.

Well, that was unexpected!!

I really enjoyed this film which surprised me. As did the mega plot twist at the end which I really wasn't expecting.

My favourite scene was when Teddy meets Rachel in the cave and things start to click into place for him for a while before he pops back up in the main buildings.

I really love how this film was put together and looking back now I know the ending you can see why certain things happened as they did and it all makes sense! I'll definitely have to watch it again and make more sense out of the rest of the films and see if there are any clues I missed out on.

Overall, I'd give Shutter Island: 9/10.

Very good film!!

The Faculty

Film: The Faculty.
Director: Robert Rodriguez.

A really odd film that popped up on telly not long ago. I saw the adverts and thought, eh why not!

I didn't really like the graphicness at the beginning but I enjoyed the rest of the film I thought it was very cleverly done and it was a very good film!

My favourite scene was when the students were all taking the caffeine shot thing to test they weren't aliens and it makes them trippy until Marybeth does a runner.

Overall, I'd give The Faculty: 8/10.

Thursday 11 July 2013

The Adventures of Tintin.

Film: The Adventures of Tintin.
Director: Steven Spielberg.

I have to say I was quite disappointed by this film. I expected it to be like the books and instead I found it fairly difficult to keep interested.

It flowed quite quickly but the beginning seem to drag along a lot and it all seemed to be just very...flat.

I loved the scene with Haddock, Tintin and Snowy chasing the bird, it was very cleverly done.

Overall, I'd give The Adventures Of Tintin: 7/10.

Eh, not overly enthralled by it.

Looper.

Film: Looper.
Director: Rian Johnson.

I was given some really mixed  reviews about this film, some people really loved it and other said don't waste your time. But I'm actually really glad I saw it because I enjoyed it quite a lot!

I loved the way we could see Joe when he turned into Old Joe and then we had a "new" Joe who he had to deal with.

The film was very cleverly put together and I loved the T mutation. I wish we could have seen more about the Rainman instead of just a brief mention so we knew more about what Old Joe was trying to do.

My favourite scene was when Cid was having a meltdown at the end of the film and Sara calmed him down and Joe sacrificed himself to save him and Sara.

Overall, I'd give Looper: 8/10.

Very good film and I have it on DVD!

Now You See Me

Film: Now You See Me
Director: Louis Leterrier.

I've wanted to see this since the very first time I saw the trailer and I wasn't at all disappointed. A very very cleverly put together film with so many twists and turns with the plot it was brilliant.

I loved the Four Horsemen but I wish we'd see a little more of Jack as he seemed a little in the background throughout the film.

My favourite scene was the beginning with the little tricks they all did before being united.

My other favourite scene was at the very end when we find out who orchestrated everything!

Overall, I'd give Now You See Me: 10/10.

Definitely will be buying it on DVD!

The Bourne Legacy

Film: The Bourne Legacy.
Director: Tony Gilroy.

I really loved this film despite hearing a mix of reviews on it.

I like Renner as the new Matt Damon and it does sort of link in with the other Bourne films and it left it open for more Bourne's.

There were a lot of action scenes but that didn't detract from the storyline at all and there was plenty of plot.

Favourite scene was probably the motorbike action scene, totally awesome and really really well put together!

Overall, I'd give The Bourne Legacy: 9/10.

Really good, can't wait to see if there are more.

Unknown

Film: Unknown.
Director: Jaume Collet-Serra.

Another film I wanted to see and never really got round to catching.

It was cleverly done but not really something I enjoyed.

It seemed to be Liam Neeson's version of the Bourne films which wasn't what I wanted it to be.

My favourite scene was probably the fight at the end in the hotel when January Jones gets exploded and the 2nd Dr Harris gets beaten up.

Overall, I'd give Unknown: 6/10.

Eh.

Limitless

Film: Limitless.
Director: Neil Burger.

I wanted to see this film when it first came out but like so many I completely forgot about it but managed to catch it recently.

It was very science-y..I think you definitely need to be in the right mood to watch it because it can be quite long and difficult to keep focused on.

I loved the scene towards the end with Robert De Niro when Bradley Cooper beats him at his own game when he tries to blackmail him.

The entire film was very cleverly done and I loved the way it all linked together and you didn't see the links until they was super obvious and in your face.

Overall, I'd give Limitless: 7/10.

I'll see it again but I need to be in the right mood!

The Wild Thornberry's Movie.

Film: The Wild Thornberry's Movie.
Director: Cathy Malkasian & Jeff McGrath.

I thought I'd seen this when I was younger but alas!

A brilliant film! Even at 21 I loved it and I loved the memories it invoked from watching the programme when I was younger.

I adore Eliza and Darwin's relationship and it was sad when Eliza lost her ability to speak to animals and couldn't talk to Darwin anymore :( But when she got her powers back it was brilliant!

I loved the entire film and my favourite scene was when Eliza turned the elephants around and the poachers were dealt with!

Overall, I'd give The Wild Thornberry's Movie: 8/10.

Awesome memories!

Man Of Steel

Film: Man Of Steel.
Director: Zack Snyder.

I'm not the biggest Superman fan but I really liked the look of the trailer for this film and I wasn't at all disappointed when I saw it!

I loved the futuristic style of the beginning with General Zod and Jor-El and the whole disagreement between them.

I enjoyed watching Clark grow up and loved the scene where he saved the bus and then went back down to save the boy and nobody believed the boy when he said what Clark had done.

My favourite scene was when Clark was "arrested" and freaks out the people behind the mirror and breaks the handcuffs with zero effort.

Overall, I'd give Man Of Steel: 9/10.

Definitely worth a watch and I'll definitely see it again!

Monday 17 June 2013

After Earth.

Film: After Earth.
Director: M. Night Shyamalan.

I'm a big fan of Will Smith and I love Jaden in Karate Kid, but overall I was disappointed.

The film seemed to last no time at all and took a very very long time to get anywhere and doing anything. The action was good but short lived and it seemed like Will did nothing but sit in pain in a chair and Jaden spent his time doing the opposite of what he was meant to.

I think the whole idea of the film was great, I just wish it had been less of a lead up to the action and more action, more drama. It could've been awesome but instead was a let down.

Overall, I'd give After Earth: 6/10.

I won't see it again, disappointing considering how good Will's films are normally!

Fast & Furious 6.

Film: Fast & Furious 6.
Director: Justin Lin.

Awh, damn! This is a good film!

There were plenty of very awesome car scenes and more than enough deep throaty cars! It was awesome.

I loved the whole Letty and Dom story, it was brilliant!

My favourite scene was the plane scene...although how long was that run way?!

I also loved the tank! That was awesome and superbly well done!

Overall, I'd give Fast & Furious 6: 9/10.

Awesome!

Fast Five.

Film: Fast Five.
Director: Justin Lin.

I'm a big fan of the Fast & Furious films, there is nothing better than a good cargasm!

I really enjoyed this film, it didn't seen far fetched like a lot of films can when they hit the 5th film!
I loved The Rock even though I'm not a big fan of him normally!

The relationship between The Rock and Dom was awesome and I especially loved the scene when they were under gun fire and Dom does the right thing!

Overall, I'd give Fast Five: 9/10

I've bought it and I love it :)

Sunday 26 May 2013

ParaNorman.

Film: ParaNorman.
Director: Sam Fell & Chris Butler.

I meant to see this in the cinema but never managed it!

It was Burtonesque but without his particular flair but overly pretty enjoyable.

It was brain numbing (hahahaha, I'm hilarious.) but a good film! I loved Neil he reminded me of Rupert Grint's character in ThunderPants!

My favourite scene was when Mitch, Courtney and Neil where in the car and Neil says "You're the oldest!" and Mitch responds with "Not mentally!!". Definitely cracked me up. And when Neil bites his tongue!

Overall, I'd give ParaNorman: 8/10.

Alright though I don't think I'll see it again in a hurry.

The Hangover Part III

Film: The Hangover Part III
Director: Todd Phillips.

I saw the first Hangover and had zero desire to see the second and I didn't much want to see the third either.

All in all it was nowhere near as funny as the first and didn't make much sense (I'm not sure if it is due to missing the second one or if it just didn't make sense!). I think the only part which actually made me laugh was the clip at the very end with the "boobies" and that is because I'm immature, haha.

I think the boobies scene was my favourite or the scenes with Melissa McCarthy because she is hilariously funny!

Overall, I'd give The Hangover Part III: 7/10.

Nothing special and not really worth the money!

I Am Slave.

Film: I Am Slave.
Director: Gabriel Range.

An unexpected film that popped up in the trailers before Welcome To The Rileys. It is a fantastic, hard hitting film.

The contrast between Malia's life with her father, Bah, and her life in London and the Sudan as a slave is shown constantly throughout the film, showing snippets of her life before she was taken and of the beginning of her imprisonment. Her father still looks for her years after she was taken in the hopes of seeing and finding her.

My favourite scene was the final few minutes of the film where Malia gets help from her "brother" and she escapes. The short conversation between Malia and her "master" in London tugs at the heartstrings and although we feel some sympathy for the lady of the house its nowhere near as strong as the wish for Malia to escape.
When she manages to get into contact with her father over the phone the single word spoken is "Daddy?" which is utterly heart-breaking and you can't help but well up.

Overall, I'd give I Am Slave: 10/10.

I would recommend it to everyone.

Star Trek Into Darkness.

Film: Star Trek Into Darkness.
Director: J.J. Abrams.

This is so not my type of film, but my boyfriend wanted to see it so I agreed and it turned out to be pretty good! Benedict Cumberbatch was an awesome baddie and very believable with some fantastic ninja moves.

I've not seen the first one of the remakes or the originals either, but I enjoyed this film. The whole Sci-fi genre is usually something I avoid due to there being SO many terribly made films but this is not one of them!

My favourite scene was when Kirk and the crew were battling the Klingons on Kronos (I *think* that's the way to spell it...) and Khan pops up and beats them all thoroughly and kills a squadron of Klingons before surrendering to Kirk.

Overall, I'd give Star Trek Into Darkness: 8/10.

Pretty good though I don't know if I'd see it again.

Saturday 11 May 2013

The Impossible.

Film: The Impossible.
Director: Juan Antonio Bayona.

Oh. My. Wow. If you haven't seen this film DO IT NOW!

It's so good! I'm actually kind of glad I didn't see it in the cinema though because I cried like twelve times, haha.

Man, I really really enjoyed it and I can't help but feel wonder and awe and total amazement that this family who was torn apart so viciously like countless others managed to keep looking for one another despite all the hardship in Thailand.

My favourite scene was when Maria was going under aesthetic for the second time and we see how we got her injuries and how she fights through to come to the surface.

Overall, I'd give The Impossible: 10/10. Without any hesitation!

I love it.

Monday 6 May 2013

Journey To The Center Of The Earth

Film: Journey To The Center Of The Earth
Director: Eric Brevig.

I thought this film was of the same ilk as Race To Witch Mountain...the film with The Rock which was terrible and I was pleasently surprised to find it wasn't!

Definitely enjoyed it and the whole story, it intrigued me. The graphics weren't always great but overall it wasn't horrendous and the acting wasn't cringeworthy either.

My favourite scene was when Josh Hutcherson was calling dibs on the mountain guide and he and Brendan Fraser were arguing in the cave and said mountain guide gets irritated. Made me giggle!

Overall, I'd give Journey To The Center Of The Earth: 7/10

I'd probably watch it again, it doesn't require too much brain power!

Wednesday 1 May 2013

Iron Man 3.

Film: Iron Man 3.
Director: Shane Black.

Well, this is awesome. I recommend everyone goes and sees it and waits allllll the way through the credits for the little snippet scene at the end and the final four words which flash on the screen, totally worth it.

Goddamn I love Robert Downey Jr, he's funny, quick witted and I *love* his love for Pepper in this film!!

My absolute favourite scene was after the first explosion and he sends the suit to Pepper instead of protecting himself.

Second favourite scene was when Harley goes back into his little shed and Stark has decked it all out for him, totally a good guy thing to do for all the times he was a bit of a jerk.

Overall, I'd give Iron Man 3: 10/10

GO AND SEE IT! That is all.

The Hobbit.

Film: The Hobbit.
Director: Peter Jackson.

Not my usual film but I did enjoy it.

Honestly, the most memorable thing about it...it was very long...

I loved the action and the drama but the beginning bored me a little. I loved the scene with the dragon and the dwarves though because who doesn't like dragons?!

My favourite scene was when Bilbo stood up to the white orc to protect Thorin it was cool and I loved how Bilbo became a hero to them!

Overall, I'd give The Hobbit: 8/10.

Good but I don't know if I'd see it again in a hurry.

Sunday 28 April 2013

Love And Other Drugs.

Film: Love And Other Drugs.
Director: Edward Zwick.

A surprising film which I loved! Though it was pretty awkward to watch it with my mother and grandmother in the room!!

I adored Anne Hathaway as Maggie, I think she played the role perfectly. There were times as the audience where I felt horribly awkward for her which was exactly what I was supposed to feel!

Jake Gyllenhaal as Jamie was wonderful, he played the ladies man role beautifully until he finally became the man Maggie wanted but was afraid to ask for.

My first favourite part was when he waited in the car for her to come back from Canada and the relationship began and my second was when he made the bus pull over so he could tell her how much he loved her.

Overall, I'd give Love And Other Drugs: 9/10.

Pretty awesome however awkward with your mother!

Oblivion.

Film: Oblivion.
Director: Joseph Kosinski.

I wasn't sure about this film I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Cruise but hey!

The film was okay, I loved the whole futuristic thing and all the scientific gadgets they have!
I definitely loved the twisting plot line with Jack and Julia.

However, there were some parts of the film which were very predictable which was irritating yet totally predicted!

Overall, I'd give Oblivion: 5/10

It was alright but I'm not sure I would see it again!

Saturday 20 April 2013

Pitch Perfect.

Film: Pitch Perfect.
Director: Jason Moore.

I love films like this!

I wanted to see it in the cinema but never got round to it due to one thing or another and I'm annoyed I didn't! Such a good film, I love Anna Kendrick!

I think Kendrick is very similar to Kristen Stewart, in a good way though, haha!

I loved this movie and the rag tag group of girls that ended up singing together, I especially loved the way they all came out of their shells in the end to become winners!

The relationship between Beca and Jesse is awesome and I would have loved to see the pair of them sing together; I definitely loved the part where Beca sang the Breakfast Club song ending and Jesse put his fist up in the air.

Overall, I'd give Pitch Perfect: 9/10

Feel good, with some awesome dancing!

Identitiy Thief.

Film: Identity Thief.
Director: Seth Gordon.

Daaaaaamn, I love Melissa McCarthy! I loved her in Bridesmaids and I loved her in this! She suited the female Sandy perfectly, I'm pretty sure the role was made for her.

The film has the hilariously funny bits along with the heartwrenchingly sad parts which made me tear up, then the next second you're laughing again.

The pairing of Melissa and Jason was brilliant, they were funny together and I loved the ending! I agree with Melissa..Dawn Budgie is a fucking awful name!!

Overall, I'd give Identity Thief: 9/10

So good!

Friday 29 March 2013

The Host.

Film: The Host.
Director: Andrew Niccol.

I've been waiting for this film for over a year. I'm not even kidding. They released a short trailer just after The Hunger Games had come out in the cinema.

I reread the book before going to see the film so it was all fresh in my noodle!

I'll be honest, books into films are never as good as you dream they will be. Compared to the book you will always be disappointed and The Host was no different. There were big chunks missed out and big sections changed, but that's understandable! I still enjoyed the film even if I was slightly annoyed by the changes and the deleted bits but I still loved it.

I was very happy with the way they did Melanie's voice in Wanda's head it was better than I thought it was going to be!

My favourite scene was when Jamie and Wanda were sitting in the cave with the glow worms and he said about being quiet and then clapped and it all went dark.

I did enjoy the film but I almost wish I hadn't reread the book just beforehand!

Overall, I'd give The Host: 8/10.

Not what I'd expected and hoped it would be, but I still liked it.

The Croods.

Film: The Croods.
Director: Chris Sanders & Kirk De Micco.

Holy crap. From the very first trailer I saw of this at Wreck-It Ralph I wanted to see it! It was every bit as awesome as I had hoped and more!

It's not just a kids film by any means it has some humour in it which adults are more likely to get but aren't rude or in anyway in appropriate for young ears!

The family consists of Grug (the father), Ugga (mother), Gran (gran..funnily enough!), Thunk (the pretty dim brother), Sandy (the animalistic little sister) and finally Eep (the rebel!). Not forgetting of course Guy (the guide) and Belt (...his belt).

Guy and Eep's relationship makes me laugh she is a totally overprotective girlfriend, add in some caveman strength and you have an interesting lady! Grug, like most fathers, dislikes the relationship and takes great measure to ensure they are separated at all times.

My favourite scene was one of the final scenes in the cave with the giant sabre toothed cat when Grug has fire and waves it in his face and the cat just blows it out...seconds later they're both blowing it back into life after hearing a noise and the cat pins him to the wall purring!

Overall, I'd give The Croods: 10/10.

Totally fantastic, I loved it!

Sunday 24 March 2013

Red.

Film: Red.
Director: Robert Schwentke.

I meant to see this when it came out and totally forgot about it!

I quite enjoyed the film, I liked the fact there was an actual storyline in amongst the actiony scenes which I feel has been missing in a couple of these types of films lately.

I loved the character Sarah, she started off terrified and ended up awesome and totally loving the high of all the action.

My favourite scene was probably the very last scene in Moldova, John Malkovich is hilarious!

Overall, I'd give Red: 8/10.

Amusing and funny!

Saturday 23 March 2013

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.

Film: The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.
Director: Don Scardino.

I love Jim Carrey with a passion...but I hated this film so very much.

I thought it was going to be funny with some cool magic tricks and a really awesome story line. Erm, nope, nope and nope.

I found the story very hard to get interested in, it felt like it was aimed at pre-teen children rather than adults. The characters were lifeless and I was bored.

My favourite scene was probably when Carrey's character shot a fireball at a guy in the audience.

Overall, I'd give The Incredible Burt Wonderstone: 4/10.

I won't see it again and I definitely won't be recommending it!

Safe Haven.

Film: Safe Haven.
Director: Lasse Hallström.

I saw the theatrical trailer for this and thought it looked good and by the time I got to the cinema I couldn't remember what it was supposed to be about! Despite my memory fail, I really enjoyed the film!

I loved the whole flashback and cross cutting scenes of Katie's past and seeing Tierney appearing in her past and present, it was very cleverly done.

I especially loved the scene when Katie is staying with Alex and his son, Josh, says he likes Katie which starts a change in his relationship with Alex.

There are two plot twists in the film and both are substantial and I'm not saying what they are but the final scene has to be my favourite!

Overall, I'd give Safe Haven: 9/10.

Very good, I will be acquiring it on DVD!

Thursday 14 March 2013

Hansel and Gretel.

Film: Hansel and Gretel.
Director: Tommy Wirkola.

I was half and half over whether I wanted to see this and surprisingly enjoyed it. It reminded me a lot of Snow White and the Huntsman..very action-y with not a lot of dialogue. But it worked and I enjoyed it.

I'm not Gemma Arterton's biggest fan, but I think that's because of the tragedy that was Clash of the Titans; this was an amusing film with some fairly believable ninja moves and some totally awesome weapons which made me think of Priest!

My favourite scene would be the big scene on the Sabbath with everyone dying and the witches being cheesewired, haha.

Favourite character would be either Gretel or Edward! Edward was amusing!

Overall, I'd give Hansel and Gretel: 8/10

Definitely worth a watch, not sure if I'll buy it on DVD though!

Saturday 9 March 2013

Made in Dagenham.

Film: Made in Dagenham.
Director: Nigel Cole.

Not the sort of film that I would usually watch but it totally drew my attention and I enjoyed it much to my own surprise!

The whole equal rights movement is something that has never really interested me but it was fascinating to learn about it and how it came from the average working girl and ended up changing the way we live today.
I never understood the whole political side of issues when I studied History in school but this subject enthralled me and I loved the character Rita!

I have two favourite scenes! First, was when Eddie is telling Rita that he doesn't drink, gamble or raise a hand to her or the kids and that basically she should be grateful. Rita responds it should be a right not a privilege to be looked after by her husband/boyfriend.
Secondly, is when Eddie follows Rita to where she is speaking and apologises and says he listened to what she said and he agrees and supports her.
It seems very..fantastical but it is a true story and I'm glad there are people out there who can admit when they are wrong and make changes!

Overall, I'd give Made in Dagenham: 8/10.

A good film, I enjoyed it but definitely one you have to be in the right mood to watch!

Oz the Great and Powerful.

Film: Oz the Great and Powerful.
Director: Sam Raimi.

Before seeing this, I had only seen one short trailer for it and wasn't really that interested in seeing the film but my boyfriend wanted to go and so I agreed...and I'm so glad I did! It was a surprisingly good, very interesting film!
I loved all the little snippets and hints to The Wizard of Oz that were throughout the movie it was a real throwback!

I really enjoyed the storyline and all the characters that appeared especially Finley the monkey!

My favourite character was probably Mila Kunis' character Theodora..though I really struggled to not think of Meg Griffin all the way through!

My favourite scene was when Oz, Finley and the China Girl are going to steal the wand from Glinda and Finley makes a surprising noise!

Overall, I'd give Oz the Great and Powerful: 9/10.

A very interesting film which made me think of Pandora, the world in Avatar.

Monday 4 March 2013

Django Unchained.

Film: Django Unchained.
Director: Quentin Tarantino.

Oh, Tarantino. I adored this film! It was everything I didn't expect it to be. I thought I was going to be horribly uncomfortable throughout but it was absolutely fantastic! Utterly hilarious and the story was brilliant.

I loved the insight into the past and how people treated black people with such disrespect apart from Dr Schultz (Chrisopher Waltz). The relationship between Django and Schultz grows quickly with Django being allowed to pick his characters costume (which was fantastic!)

I don't remember being in a cinema where the entire audience laughed multiple times in unison!

Of course, with the nature of the film there are some parts which are serious and disturbing because they would really have happened to people in the past and that wasn't okay. The film definitely draws awareness to how slavery really was for a lot of people.

My favourite scene was the final scene in the Big House in Candie Land when Django goes all awesome and Samuel L. Jackson's character says "motherfucker!" which made me laugh and the shooting to the lady who flies through the doorway.

Overall, I'd give Django Unchained: 10/10.

Utterly amazing film, I definitely recommend it!

Friday 22 February 2013

Beautiful Creatures.

Film: Beautiful Creatures.
Director: Richard LaGravenese.

I was really uncertain about seeing this film, as the first trailer I saw looked a little..dull. But when I saw the extended trailer it looked so awesome!

It was a really good film and I definitely enjoyed it! I'm looking forward to reading the book, actually!

The casting of Lena was..different. Englert made me think of if you took Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart and mashed them together you would get Alice Englert. I liked her as Lena..I liked her more when she got a bit bitchy! But the snappy sarcasticness made me smile.

My favourite part of the film was when Lena and Ridley were pitching a fit at each other and set the dinner table a-spinning.

Overall, I'd give Beautiful Creatures: 9/10.

I'll for sure be seeing it again!

Sunday 17 February 2013

Ice Princess.

Film: Ice Princess.
Director: Tim Fywell.

I remember seeing the trailer for this yeaaaaars back...okay in '05..and thinking I wanted to see it. It's that typical story, nerd kicks adversity in the ass and becomes cool and a winner.

I really enjoyed the entire story and how Casey and Gen end up friends despite Gen being all bitchy in the beginning. I loved the way the other skaters rallied around Casey and encouraged her to continue skating because she had raw talent and even though she could potentially beat all of them with far less practice than they had had they still helped her out. It really made me smile! It was nice to have the other skaters being so welcoming and helping her out whenever they could even when the Coach was being deliberately difficult and sabotaging her chances.

My favourite scene was when we see Casey performing half heartedly until she sees her mum up in the stands and ends up deviating from the set performance and coming second and her mother totally accepting that this is her daughter and this is what she loves.

Awh, man. I love this movie.

Overall, I'd give Ice Princess 9.5/10.

I love it. I just wish we'd seen more of Casey and Teddy!

Saturday 16 February 2013

Wreck-It Ralph.

Film: Wreck-It Ralph.
Director: Rich Moore.

I thought this film was going to be all laughs and giggles but I absolutely loved the more serious side to it.

The relationship between Ralph and Vanellope is brilliant and I loved seeing how it progressed and then had it's ups and downs and the part with the Cybugs and the glitch was sad but awesome at the same time!

My favourite part was at the end when Ralph was back in his game and the people held him up and he could see Sugar Rush and could see Vanellope winning her race.

It's definitely a feel good movie and I can't wait to buy it on DVD!

On a side note, the Despicable Me 2 trailer made me laugh hysterically and I cannot wait to see it when it comes out!

Overall, I'd give Wreck-It Ralph: 10/10.

Fantastic for all ages and I will be seeing it again!

Resident Evil: Retribution.

Film: Resident Evil: Retribution.
Director: Paul W.S. Anderson.

I saw this in the cinema in 3D when it came out and I was very excited to buy it on DVD and I'm not in the least bit ashamed to say that I watched it while wearing my brand new Umbrella Corp hoody courtesy of my wonderful boyfriend!

The first 4 minutes of this film is utterly awesome, it is my favourite scene without a doubt. It was done so cleverly and I love the fact we see it again, a little later on as well! The entire scene is a fantastic battle scene which continues on directly from Resident Evil: Afterlife..except it's backwards. The whole scene is played backwards in the first four minutes and then, a short while later it is played forwards. Totally awesome!

I love the relationship between Alice and Becky, it's nice to see Alice acting more human and I love the sign language! The reappearances of characters from previous movies which I enjoyed and didn't expect.

The ending shocked me a little bit, I wasn't expecing it to be so...industrial. I'm looking forward to the next one!

Overall, I'd give Resident Evil: Retribution: 10/10.

I love this franchise so much, definitely my favourite franchise!

Les Misérables

Film: Les Misérables.
Director: Tom Hooper.

Oh dear Lord, I loved it. Absolutely, 100% loved it!

Anne Hathaway was utterly astounding as Fantine and her singing "I Dreamed A Dream" definitely bought a tear to my eye!

The story line was fantastic, I loved the relationship between Jean Valjean and Javert and the way it ended was beautiful. It was awesome the way he popped up time and time again crossing paths with Hugh Jackman and continually chasing him down until his last.

Little Cosette had a stunning voice and her Castle Song was beautiful. I think Amanda Seyfried was a fantastic choice for adult Cosette. The paleness of her skin and her bright blonde hair really contrasted against the dirty brownish coloured skin of everyone else.

My favourite scene was when the French Revolutionists climbed on the coffin and sung. Or, the I Dreamed A Dream scene.

Overall, I'd give Les Misérables: 10/10.

Fantastic, I love it, I can't wait to get it on DVD and I will definitely be looking to see it in the Theatre. If you haven't seen it, you so should.

Spider Man 3.

Film: Spider Man 3.
Director: Sam Raimi.

I love Venom. And I love the "Evil look" Maguire gets when he's got the Venom suit on under his normal clothes.

I'm not Tobey Maguire's biggest fan but this is my favourite Spidey movie he is in. I absolutely love The Sand Man and the fact that Harry and Spidey sort themselves out in the end and make a good fight of it. It's definitely like Father like Son.

My favourite scene is definitely the final fight scene with Spidey and Harry aka The New Goblin against The Sand Man and Venom who is in control of Eddie Brock.

I've seen Spidey before and I love the whole franchise, more of a fan of Andrew Garfield as Spidey though!

Overall, I'd give Spider Man 3: 8/10.

A good one, worth watching!

Deep In My Heart.

Film: Deep In My Heart.
Director: Anita W. Addison.

This is a film most people probably haven't heard of, which is because it's a TV film. One of those films that just happens to be on and you end up watching it and think hang on a minute that was actually good!

The story follows Barbara Ann a young black girl who is given up by her white mother after she is attacked and raped by a black man. Barbara lives with Corrine, her foster mother, for 7 years before being adopted suddenly by a white couple who live across the country. We follow Barbara as she grows up with Annalise, her adopted mother, and she grows pregnant and moves in with her boyfriend.

The end scene is by far my favourite and I'm not going to spoilt it if you've never seen it but it is a true happy ending and it made me smile :)

Overall, I'd give Deep In My Heart: 8/10.

A very well put together film whih I enjoyed.

The Lorax.

Film: The Lorax.
Director: Chris Renaud & Kyle Balda.

I wanted to see this in the cinema and due to it being a kids film they don't show them past 5pm (annoying!) but having rented it, I'm not heartbroken I didn't spend the money in the cinema.

I usually love films like this but for me, it just fell a little flat. I'm not really sure why, there just didn't seem to be much life in it.

We see The Once-ler doing his thing and destroying the place and Ted saves the day and all is wonderful again and he gets the girl and The Lorax comes back. And there is singing. But it just isn't the film I expected and hope it would be.

I enjoyed the beginning with The Once-ler and The Lorax and Pipsqueak but after that I got bored.

It's got the typical bright colours and bizarre looking scenery like you see in Horton Hears A Who and other similar films and the contrasting Thneedville which has no natural life in it all.

Overall, I'd give The Lorax: 4/10.

I won't see it again, just too.."blah" for me.

Iron Man and Iron Man 2

Films: Iron Man and Iron Man 2.
Director: Jon Favreau.

Robert Downey Jr. is amazing, lets be honest! I love him as Tony Stark it all seems to come so naturally and I love Stark's little quirks; like not liking to be handed things.

Iron Man and the construction of the minature arc reactor which ultimately saves Tony's life is a facinating journey and we can see the genius that hides behind the slightly crazy!
The creation of the Iron Man suit is awesome and I love how he messes around with it before using it for good and saving people who needed his help the most.

Favourite scene was when he used the boosters and did a backflip into the wall before hitting the deck and being fire extinguished when he wasn't on fire.

Iron Man 2 is equally cool. The adaption of the suit is awesome and I love how his dad helps him from the grave and basically saves Tony's life.

Favourite scene would be when Black Widow is in the hallway being a super ninja and gets to the end and has taken out many men and the other Agent is like "I got him!" and is super proud of his one man he beat up.

Overall, I'd give Iron Man: 9/10.
I love it!
Overall, I'd give Iron Man 2: 9/10.
I love it too!

I love Robert Downey Jr. and I love the Iron Man series, I can't wait for Iron Man 3 to come out!

Push.

Film: Push.
Director: Paul McGuigan.

I remember when I saw the trailer for this film and I was really excited to see it but never got round to getting to the cinema. I bought  it on DVD and used it as part of my A Level Film Studies Coursework.

I really enjoyed the film, I love the idea of instead of the "usual" names for people with powers they've mixed it up totally with Pushers and Movers and Shadows.

My favourite scene was probably when Kira pushes the Sniffer in the bathroom and convinces him that his partner killed his brother (who doesn't even exist) and the Sniff kills the other one!

I really do enjoy this film..the whole Watcher idea is clever and I love the way it's all put together. I especially love the part with the letters.

Overall, I'd give Push: 8/10.

I'll watch it again and I will enjoy it :)

Panic Room.

Film: Panic Room.
Director: David Fincher.

Lets be honest, I love this film!
I've seen it countless times and it still has me on the edge of my seat.

I love Jodie Foster's character in this and I love how she funnels Raoul and Burnham through the series of walkways to exactly where she wanted them.

My favourite scene was probably after Raoul beats up Mr Altman and switches places with him and Foster legs it to get the shot Stewart's character needs and ends up sliding it through the door and Burnham does the right thing and helps Sarah get the injection. And Raoul, gets what he deserves, to be truthful!

I love the relationship between Foster and Stewart, very believable mother daughter relationship!

Overall, I'd give Panic Room: 8/10.

Definitely watch it time and time again.

Life Of Pi.

Film: Life Of Pi.
Director: Ang Lee.

Such a good film! It was better than I thought it was going to be!

An amazing story that follows Pi and Richard Parks, the tiger, after a shipwreck leaves them in a lifeboat. The way it shows how Pi and RP end up getting along (sort of) to survive and survive a long time out at sea and end up in a few weird places!

Favourite scene was when Pi and RP are nearing death and find the island full of meerkats which feeds RP very well and Pi stocks up the boat with all sorts, including meerkats!, and gets them back out on the ocean after finding out something rather horrible about the island!

I loved the way the story was told with adult Pi telling the story from birth through to the end.

Overall, I'd give Life Of Pi: 9/10.

Amazing film, definitely recommend it!

Total Recall.

Film: Total Recall.
Director: Len Wiseman.

Oh this film is awesome. I've never seen the original verstion but I love this. I so love Kate Beckinsale she plays fruit loop, batshit crazy very well! I love how the story line twist and turns and leaves you going "hang on...what?!" but it all makes sense in the end its awesome.

My favourite character is either Kate Beckinsale's character, Lori, or Jessica Biel's character, Melina. They're both strong, slightly crazy, hand to hand combat fighting ninja ladies.

Favourite scene would be after when Doug had killed the armed guys in the Rekall and goes home and he and Lori end up fighting and she slides along on her knees and clocks him in the head and pushes him onto the bed. Most awesome fight move I think I've ever seen.

Overall, I think I would give Total Recall: 8/10.

I saw it in the cinema and I'll see it again, totally epic full of sci-fi awesome stuff and illuminating tattoos!

Sunday 6 January 2013

Fish Tank.

Film: Fish Tank.
Director: Andrea Arnold.

I've had this hanging around for a while and thought I would finally watch it...yeaaah.

I was recommended it because I quite liked Precious but I wish I hadn't bought it.

It was a long 2 hours to sit through.

I guess my favourite scene was at the beginning where Mia headbutts the random girl getting in her face and breaks her nose and later we see her with a black eye.

Overall, I don't really have much to say about the film and I would give Fish Tank: 3/10.

Unlikely I'll watch it again.

Thursday 3 January 2013

Avengers Assemble.

Film: Avengers Assemble.
Director: Joss Whedon.

Awe-some.

I saw this in the cinema and absolutely loved it. It's everything a superhero movie should be. You've got backstory on most of the characters; Hulk, Iron Man, Thor/Loki and Captain America and you can pick up enough about Black Widow and Hawkeye for it all to make perfect sense.

Favourite scene is where Thor steals Loki from the plane and the whole battle between Iron Man and Thor and the quote "Doth mother know you weareth her drapes?!" Best line of the movie bar "Puny God." from Hulk.

My favourite hero is Iron Man, he's freakin' hilarious! I loved the Iron Man films and I just love Robert Downey Jr, he's amazing and Iron Man fits him to a T.

Overall, I give Avengers Assemble: 10/10.

Totally awesome. I will watch it time and time again! I think they're doing a Black Widow/ Hawkeye spin off backstory type thing, which will be epic!
